Tamil Nadu's northeast monsoon ended with 33% excess rainfall (590mm). Tirunelveli saw a 100% increase, while Chennai enjoyed its fifth consecutive year of excess rainfall. The easterly wind and low-pressure areas contributed to above-average rainfall. Despite fewer cyclones than the previous year, rainfall exceeded expectations across most districts, contrasting sharply with 2016's drought.
