Prof. Ram Nath Shastri significantly contributed to Dogri language and literature. A prolific writer, critic, and poet, he founded the Dogri Sanstha in 1944, promoting Dogri culture. He received numerous awards, including the Sahitya Akademi Award and Padma Shri. His six-volume Dogri dictionary is a monumental achievement. Shastri's work revitalized Dogri, solidifying his legacy as the 'Father of Dogri.'
