Expected rain and snow in northwestern and central India will benefit rabi crops, particularly wheat. This second wet spell this winter will improve soil moisture and boost reservoir levels. ICAR advises against over-irrigation in canal-fed areas. Higher wheat output could lower food prices, currently at 8.2% inflation.
