India's Ministry of External Affairs updated passport rules. Adding a spouse's name to a passport now requires a self-declaration certificate with a joint photo, replacing the marriage certificate. This simplifies the process, especially in regions where marriage registration isn't common. The new Annexure J form allows for easier name addition.
