Justice Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai will be India's next Chief Justice, succeeding Justice Sanjiv Khanna. He's been a Supreme Court judge since 2019 and has participated in several landmark cases, including those involving Article 370 and demonetisation. His appointment is effective May 14, 2025.
