A US Army veteran, inspired by the Islamic State, drove a truck into New Orleans' New Year's Eve celebrations, killing 15 and injuring dozens. The FBI is investigating it as a terrorist act. The driver, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, was shot dead by police. Improvised explosive devices were found in the vehicle and elsewhere.
