Indian Railways achieved record freight loading (1.61 billion tonnes) and revenue (₹2.62 lakh crore) in fiscal 2025, marking its fourth consecutive year of record-breaking performance. Coal transportation significantly contributed to this success. Passenger revenue also increased, though slightly below target. Capital expenditure exceeded budget estimates, exceeding ₹2.65 lakh crore.
