Chandrayaan-3's ChaSTE instrument successfully measured the moon's south pole temperature, becoming the first to penetrate lunar soil with a thermal probe. Previous missions on Mars and a comet failed. The probe's 10 sensors measured temperature at 10cm depth. Data suggests more water ice than anticipated. This achievement marks a significant step in lunar exploration.
