Bihar's first sports university in Rajgir, inaugurated last August, has received UGC recognition under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956. This allows the university to offer undergraduate and postgraduate courses in physical education and sports sciences starting in the 2025-2026 academic session. Retired IAS officer Shishir Sinha is the appointed vice-chancellor.
